POLICY ON JAMIESON ROOM
Definition of Jamieson
Room: Jamieson Room itself with kitchen, foyer with two restrooms.
Only Library functions may overflow into main Library.
1. The Jamieson Room
is available only upon request to any nonprofit organization,
community group, or individual with meetings of seventy-five
(75) or fewer held open to the public.
2. Use of the Jamieson
Room shall be based on an "earliest request" basis;
provided the Library reserves to itself the right of first
priority as to the use of the Jamieson Room. The Library also
reserves the right to refuse use of the Jamieson Room to any
person, group or organization whose proposed use of the Jamieson
Room would likely result in a breach of the peace or the violation
of any law, ordinance or rule of the Library.
3. The Library requests
a donation for the use of the room.
4. In order to give all
community groups and individuals an equal opportunity to use
the Jamieson Room, the request shall be for one day at a time.
The room may not be booked more than six (6) months in advance.
5. Any group of individuals
using the Jamieson Room is responsible for its arrangement
before and after each meeting.
6. The group or individual
is also responsible for cleaning up the room after each meeting.
A vacuum cleaner is provided. Authorized user will be charged
for correcting damage incurred during its use of the room.
7. One person must be
responsible for picking up a key and checklist the day of
the meeting. This person must also be responsible for turning
on the lights, heating, and air conditioning during hours
the Library is not open for business. This person must clean
the kitchen and Jamieson Room and remove all food and garbage
the day or night of use. The doors must be locked securely
on leaving the Library, the inside lights turned off, and
the key dropped in the book drop. The person must read, check,
and return the checklist along with the key.
8. No group or individual
other than the Rappahannock County Library or Friends of the
Rappahannock County Library is allowed to use the Jamieson
Room for any fund-raising purposes, for activities charging
admission, or for the sale of any item to the general public.
9. The fact that a group
or individual is permitted to meet at the Library does not
constitute or endorse the group's or individual's policies
by the Library.
10. Smoking is not permitted
in the Library.
11. Any group or individual
using the Library when the Library is not open for public
business shall be responsible for providing safe and convenient
access into and out of the program premises.
